Thanks for logging in! You may not have the time to drop into my office at 1 Canning Place, Newbridge or attend my clinics around the constituency, but this way, we can still connect with one another.
From Rathangan, living in Newbridge a Kildare woman to the core. I have a huge pride and passion for our county-the people, the businesses, the sport, the schools, the volunteer groups and the upbeat enthusiasm that forms the DNA of our county.
My vision is for a society where people live in a safe and secure home in an empowered community with emphasis on business, education and positive mental health. It is wrong that working people are still worrying if they will have enough money to pay their bills on a Friday afternoon.
Since my election to the 32nd Dáil Éireann in February, I have raised many issues which impact on Kildare residents on a daily basis.
We have the lowest ratio of Gardaí per head of population and last year alone, burglaries rose by 63%. Similarly, along with our neighbours in Meath and Wicklow, we host 11% of the country’s homeless population – yet receive only 2% of the national funding.
We have the highest birth rate nationally and the higest youth population aged under 25 years yet Kildare has the lowest investment in youth services, with a similar situation regarding the budget for mental health supports in Co Kildare.
Times have been, and continue to be tough, but today in Kildare, people are hungry for optimism and for a sense of purpose and belief that, together, we can and will forge a brighter future. This belief – in ourselves as a people and in our combined capabilities – was the cornerstone that the General Election 2016 centred on.
I have a proven record of delivery within Co Kildare as a public representative and will continue to represent the people of South Kildare in the 32nd Dáil with the same passion I see evidenced amongst the voluntary and community sector across the county.
Feel free to drop into my office at No 1, Canning Place, Newbridge or to any of my clinics around the county. I would be delighted to hear from you – so click onto the contact button above and drop me a line.
Stay in touch!
Slán,
Fiona
